Echoic Object 40 released as part of Sonic Heritage
To celebrate World Heritage Day the fantastic Cities and Memory launched their biggest project yet: Sonic Heritage. With more than 500 sounds total from more than 68 countries, it features both UNESCO World Heritage Sites and items of intangible heritage that have been re-composed by artists from all over the world. Including, I’m delighted to say, me!
Echoic Object 40 was composed from a sound by Paul Virostek of Creative Field Recording - an ambient recording of Westminster Abbey in London. I have quite complex feelings about such landmarks, some of which are explored in the piece and some of which remain mine to wrestle with.
The collection can be explored here and you’ll find Echoic Object 40 on the map in London, in the Sacred Space category, or with a quick search.
