Emmy Lambert is an audio engineer, composer and researcher-artist focused on textural, timbral and spatial explorations in sound.
Her artistic practice incorporates technical research, data sonification, field recording, acoustic and electronic instruments, collaboration and installation, and considers themes of perspective, technology, humanity and the natural world. She has worked in professional audio for nearly twenty years in a variety of technical roles that include live music, theatre and broadcast as well as recording and studio mixing, but she particularly enjoys working with unusual ensembles, spaces and productions and mixing live music spatially. She studied with Gary Carpenter and Sam Salem at the Royal Northern College of Music.
As a composer Emmy has a diverse catalogue of music, from notated pieces for traditional forces to open scores for unusual or contemporary ensembles as well as installations, field recording and sound art pieces. She enjoys close collaboration both with musical performers and artists in other disciplines.
Aside from composing she continues to work in technical production and studio mixing as well doing live/broadcast performances for organisations such as the BBC, ITV, Manchester Camerata and a multitude of bands. She releases electronic music under the moniker Hothouse Discord.
